5.6.2012 Over the D-day beaches We all know about the beaches, the names Juno beach, Omaha,
Utah beach etc. all bring memories of the tremednous story we
read, learned or saw in a movie. However, seeing the
beaches in reality from the air gives an added
understanding of the D-day operation of June 1944. This
article was dedicated to D-day and the photos were taken
during a flight over the beaches area. They hopefully give all
of us a better understanding of the D-day operation. more
10.1.2012 The Lions´ breakfast on Christmas day 2011 This is not a “flying article” but describes our 4WHD experience
from Namibia and especially the Etosha national park where we
witnessed the lions killing a zebra. more
22.11.2011 Scotland from the air I had fantastic luck flying to Scotland and enjoying a week of
beautiful sunny weather. The article focuses on the journey via
London, Edinburgh up to Oban and Inverness. Photos of Loch Ness,
Iona, Ben Nevis and many other interesting places are a part of
it. more
6.3.2011 Volcanic New Zealand I could not believe the beauty and diversity of New Zealand when
I went there in 2007. It is one of the places I definitely want to
go back to, rent an airplane for longer and do much more of flying,
photographing and filming than I did then. This article was
published shortly after the earthquake in 2011 in order to show the
readers the beauty as well as the dangers hidden in the New Zealand
volcanoes. more
22.1.2011 Flight over Africa from the other seat My wife felt that my articles are lacking any emotions and do
not show what she felt – stress and, at times, fear. So she wrote
this article which I then supplied with some more photos of the
South Africa/Namibia/Botswana/Tanzania trip. The article is a
bit emotional to me but it may better reflect the feelings a
non pilot may have during the long hours of flight over the hot
African continent. My wfie had done some more flying with me
after that trip but about a year ago she decided she had done
enough of flying to demonstrate her devotion and stopped
altogether. more
22.1.2011 Flight over the Victoria Falls and a verification of the Dr Holub´s map of the falls This is another of the four articles focusing on the South
Africa/Namibia/Tanzania/Botswana trip. It pays special attention to
the Victoria falls and refers to the fact that a Czech traveller of
the 19th century - Dr Holub, was the first person ever to draw
a map of Victoria falls and the vicinity – a map which is now shown
in many local guides as well as serious geographical books. more
15.1.2011 Botswana according to Mr Paroubek An article displaying the highly civilized system and country of
Botswana. I wrote this article in response to some silly comments
made by the Czech ex-prime minister Mr Paroubek who used Botswana
as an example of a corrupt country without obviously even knowing
where it is located. The article contains also photographs from our
flying trip over Botswana. more
