10.6.2014 Islands of the North Sea „Islands of the North Sea“ is the second part of expedition
named „European islands from the sky“ which I started this Spring.
In this part I am planning to fly over, také photographs and videos
of Channel Islands, Outer and Inner Hebrides, Orkney islands, Faroe
islands, Shetland islands, Frisian Islands and many solitary
islands alongside the coast of western England, Scotland, Norway,
Denmark and Germany. The journey is planned to take about 10 days
and it will be followed on-line on the main Czech news portal
iDNES.cz (www.idnes.cz) which will show on line map with actual
position of the aircraft as well on line news and daily updated
photographs. Not everything will be in English but I hope everyone
will be able to enjoy the photographs and the map. I am
planning to depart on Monday, 16 June a.m. more
70th Anniversary of the D-Day I wanted to contribute to the celebrations of the 70th
anniversary of the D-Day and pay tribute to the soldiers who were
there and especially to those who lost their lives. The best
way I could do so was to prepare a video which shows aerial views
of the disembarkation beaches. I hope you will like it and it
will give you a better understanding of the D-Day situation. more
26.2.2014 Flight over Hamburg - following the footsteps of Allied bombers This article focuses on some of the critical locations of WWII –
Potsdam, Berlin, Peenemunde, Hamburg, Helgoland, Bremen. The
photographs taken from the air as well as land show these places
today a make it easier to imagine the impact the warmachine had not
only on Germany. The article contains 40 photographs, map of the
trip as well as a video. more
3.12.2013 Eight days over the fjords and icebergs – across the arctic circle in a sport aircraft The trip in my tiny sport aircraft to Norway was
on my list of quite some time but I could not make up my mind as it
might prove somewhat difficult especially due to the harsh and
unpredictable weather. Finally I decided to fly alone and instead
of a passenger take with me stuff that would have helped
me overcome an emergency landing in the cold mountains. The
weather on the trip was indeed not very pleasant – during the 8
days I flew over Scandinavia only 2 days were sunny. However,
the photographs and the video shots prove how beautiful the
landscape of Norway and Sweden are. If you cannot read the article,
you can at least enjoy the photos contained in it and
the photo gallery shown in the photos section as well as the
video which is also in English. more
8.11.2013 From Pribram to Cyprus Flying from Czech Republic to Cyprus is not so simple. My
objective for this 2500 km (about 1600 miles) long journey was to
make only one stop on the whole journey planned for two days.
During the flight I was, however, faced with three major problems
which made it truly unforgettable. First, It was the gas explosion
in the Galileo offices in Prague where I had many ex-colleagues and
friends (see for example:
here). Second, it was the cost saving measures at Corfu airport
which were the reason behind the damage to my pitot tube
that translated into three days of waiting for a new one and a lot
of money. Third, it was the strong headwind which nearly prevented
me from reaching Cyprus almost forcing me to land on the sea. Even
flying back was not easy – storm over my technical stop over
Brindisi, engine problems half way over the Adriatic sea and high
turbulent winds over the Alps. However, I made it and I logged
another interesting trip into my diary. more
1.8.2013 The itinerary that the Czechs take on their journey to Croatia This is the first part of a three-part series of articles
published on the iDnes news portal. The objective was to document
the journey which almost 1 million of Czech tourists take every
year in order to spend their vacations in Croatia. I flew with the
editor of the blog section of iDnes – Mr Dvorak who did the
photographing. This first part describes the journey from my base
airport at Pribram to Zadar in Croatia. We flew over Vienna, then
to the lake Balaton and to the south-west to spend the night
at Maribor in Slovenia. The next day we continued to
Zadar. more
16.7.2013 Croatia from the air – see the beautiful islands The second part of a three-part series of articles published on
the iDnes news portal to document the journey a million of Czech
tourists take every summer to enjoy vacation on the Adriatic coast.
The journey was made more interesting by the fact that I forgot my
aircraft documents in Pribram and at the airport of Zadar I was
confronted with my first ever ramp check where the absence of the
documents was exposed to the Croatia civil aviation officials. It
took about two hours to sort everything out through my frantic
efforts and the help of friends at my home base. We then flew
alongside the coast, photographed and filmed the beaches, the
islands and little towns. We reached Trieste Ronchi airport at
around five p.m. and at about six we departed for the last part of
trip across the Alps. more
1.7.2013 Croatia from the air – returning home over the Alps The third part of a three-part series of articles published on

This part is focused on the flight from Triest Ronchi airport back
to Pribram over the Alps which were covered in clouds at that time.
We returned to Pribram at around half past eight. more
